pears from our tree
mmmm pears
we just realized that we have a pear tree in our yard - we were pretty excited since pears are dan's favorite fruit! i can think of tons of ways to eat pears... paired with cheese for a light snack, on pizza with gorgonzola, made into a panini with some bri, mixed into pasta with parmesan and maybe asparagus...
but when it comes to baking, i'm just not sure what to do with them.
i was trying to come up with a way to bake them and have something to do with the girls today - i came up with pear bread and pear crumble, pear pie and pear tarts... but some of them looked pretty complicated or had ingredients that i didn't have on hand so we ended up making...well, nothing. pretty sad. so that this doesn't happen again, i thought i would ask you guys what your favorite pear dishes are, whether they be a snack, dinner or dessert i would love to know! i appreciated the few of you that shared some apple recipes with me when i did this post, so i'm hoping for some help here as well.
thanks in advance!
xo,
kass

You have a pear tree?? Lucky!! I dont have any recipes, but a good website is supercook.com. You can punch in the ingredients you DO have, and they search all over the internet finding recipes with the ingredients in your kitchen.
I LOVE a salad with roasted pears. I just drizzle the sliced pears with some olive oil and pop them in the oven for a bit. Then I add them to a salad with a light vinaegrette. Delicious. I also usually pair the salad with a nice steak!
Try this:
Ingredients
* 3 tablespoons raisins
* 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
* 1/4 teaspoon grated orange
peel
* 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
* 1/4 cup water
* 1 tablespoon butter or
margarine
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 2 large pears
Directions
Combine raisins, nuts and orange peel; set aside. In a saucepan, bring brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon and nutmeg to a boil.
Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Slice pears and place in an ungreased 1-1/2-qt. baking dish;
fill with raisin mixture. Pour sugar mixture over and around pears.
Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until pears are tender. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
Hope you enjoy!

YUM! A pear tree? how wonderful! My son LOVES pears. An easy idea we use them for, is pear pinwheels! Take a wheat tortilla, sprinkle shredded cheese and thinly sliced pears, microwave for 30sec., roll up and slice thin to serve! Great snack or lunch!! Found you on chickadee fridays! Cute blog :)
Hey Kass. I'm new here via Mannland5. Lucky to having a pear tree! I too, like most of the comments above, enjoy pears but don't have a recipe to share. I just enjoy eating it. :)

I make pear butter in my slow cooker. We eat some right away and I water bath process the rest for storage. Lucky you to have a pear tree, I use the pears from the vacant lot next to us. So happy to have a generous absentee neighbor who shares.
New follower from Follow Me Chickadee! Those look so delicious! Wish I had a recipe to share!
I'm your newest follower :) I prefer my pears in a salad with nuts or right off the tree :)
