getting to know you

i'm still in palm springs enjoying the sun and relaxing 

but i didn't want to miss out on my sisters blog hop

getting to know you

so without further ado... here it is

1 - Why did you start blogging?
i started blogging in hopes of getting feed back for my creations - if i got enough good feedback then i was hoping to open up an etsy store by april of this year... but with life in the way it looks like it wont be happening yet :-( my goal of this blog was to be solely of my creations but that hasn't happened either - it's taken a few detours along the way!

2 - Who's the one blog friend that you would want to meet most in "real life"?
i have a few that i can't wait to meet and they know who they are... if all works out well i'll be meeting them in june - yay!

3 - Why are you always concerned with losing that "extra 10 pounds" when chances are your husband/boyfriend/friends tell you that you look just fine the way you are?

true, i have never had anyone tell me (who loves me, anyway) that i look bad... but I just feel better when i'm at the weight i know i'm suppose to be at... right now i'm five pounds over that. ugh. 

also, i think it's a girl thing... wouldn't you agree ladies?

4 - What's the one thing you wish guys could understand about you?
hmmm... the only guy i care about understanding me is my husband and i think he understands me pretty well actually... i wouldn't mind him being me for a day though... and on a day that aunt flow is visiting would be best. haha

5 - Tattoos.  How many do you have and how many are visible when you wear your "everyday" clothes?

i have one tattoo a 'tramp stamp' and i loathe it. i usually forget it's there but when i do see it i just get so embarrassed... oh well. it's a part of me.
6 - What was the best year of your life and why?

i don't think i've had my best year yet... but i've had a lot of great times... my life has been full of ups and downs and i can't think of any ONE YEAR that stands out.
7 - Name three things you would do if you were a man for one day.
pee, have sex (who isn't curious how it feels for a man... i am!) and..... i don't know... build things. haha

and finally...

8 - What's your alcoholic drink of choice that usually raises a few eyebrows?

i don't drink much alcohol and i have no drinks of choice that would raise an eyebrow... i really enjoy a good cosmo, a good beer or a little rum with pomegranate juice. but really, i RARELY drink.

case, shoes and new moon

the sunglass case (mini clutch, checkbook holder, etc... ;-) ) i made for myself

unless, of course, one of my girls wants it for themselves... in that case, i would gladly give it up

yes it's wonky

but, dude, it's all hand sewn... and since it's for me, i didn't care as much!

i still like it!

yesterday i received the cutest pair of shoes from urban in the mail 

my mom got them for me as an early b-day present and made sure to have them delivered before my palm springs trip so i could wear them there - she's the best and i love them so so so much!

good thing i'll be poolside all weekend!

i really should be packing but am so over it... maybe i'll try to get a couple of boxes done before the hus comes home - i wouldn't want him to yell at me or anything

speaking of the hus, we watched new moon last night

and although the edward, jacob and bella in the movies are NOTHING like the ones of my imagination

(i find bella from the movies to be much of a disappointment and didn't like jacob or edward in the first movie either)

i enjoyed the movie... and the boys are growing on me... but bella is still horrid and i can't stand that actress - ugh.

i think i might read the books again

 i heart edward.

feels good

in between packing, cleaning and gearing up for my palm springs trip this weekend

i've been making a few sunglass cases

i'm finishing up the third one today which will be for me - i've never made myself one before so i'm pretty excited to have one for myself. 

the other two will go to my girlfriends

it feels good to be sewing and creating again - yay!

gimp girl

yesterday we went to burbank to celebrate the 'spring' birthdays with dan's family

from top to bottom 

our handsome nephew max, pushing tay in the swing, dan and i being serious, tyler playing with his cousins jayden and eva, dan and i being silly, my beautiful sis-in-law, shawna, with tayli and max

we got a lot of packing done on saturday (we're moving the 2nd of april) while the kids went to my friend/neighbor, brianne's, house to have a water balloon fight and jump on her trampoline.... i'm going to miss brianne so much - she's been the best neighbor and friend since moving here.

we enjoyed our time with dan's family yesterday and the nice warm weather!

today i am 'gimp girl' and walking with a cane (embarrassing, i know). i have an arthritic back disease (ankylosing spondylitis) that has been in remission for over two years but has just recently been acting up again...

last night i was bending over plugging in my cell phone and couldn't get back up. i was in so much pain and still am today. it hurts to walk and i feel like my left leg is going to go out from under me. 

i'm praying that it feels better today and the rest of this week since i was planning on getting a lot of working out in before my palm springs trip with my girlfriends this weekend... plus, i don't want to be gimpy girl and walking with a cane in palm springs. haha

would love your prayers that the pain subsides!

my two things today are colorful and fun

i love the colors in this hand painted stool i bought from urban outfitters a few years ago - i'm a stool lover and have quite a few... but this one is my most colorful

i also love the colors and design on this pretty anthro vase - it looks gorgeous with flowers in it and i wish i had some to put in for the picture. oh well.

i would love to hear

last night i had a rough night - tayli woke up right as dan and i were going to bed and she wouldn't go back to sleep - i ended up cuddling her in her bed and slept horribly. i finally got up around 2:30am and went to my own bed only to be woken up by a 4.4 earthquake at 4am. ugh. luckily the girls and dan didn't wake up (earthquakes scare the poop out of dan - he almost had a hutch fall on him during the northridge quake in '94) but tyler did wake up freaking out that someone was banging his window... haha he's such a cutie.
